During the devastating Gorkha Earthquake in 2015 over 9,000 people lost their lives and hundreds of thousands remained homeless. Not only in the area of Gorkha and Kathmandu – the earthquake triggered an avalanche of Mount Everest, killing at least 19 people. Another huge avalanche took place in Langtang Valley where over 250 people are still missing. Across the whole country, dozens of villages were destroyed. In light of this where so many lives were impacted and our country was experiencing so much pain through this natural disaster, we did our best to support people and help out with some of the most urgently needed supplies in the area of Kahule – another of our soapberry plantation areas.
Our team distributed sanitary and medicinal supply boxes, mosquito nets, mattresses, blankets, tarpaulin, and thousands of kilograms of rice, over a hundred kilograms of sugar as well as cooking oil.
